Ernie Gmehling established Ground Science in 2003 along with Chris Senserrick (no longer working for the company) when it was realised that the geotechnical industry was in a state of growth. He saw an opportunity to provide the market place with a fresh new service provider. We identified several key niche markets within the umbrella of geotechnical engineering and have become one of the industry leaders, offering a broad range of engineering and laboratory services to key industry sectors.

Ground Science Pty Ltd is located in Thomastown, with an affiliate company Ground Science South West Pty Ltd located in Geelong. Ground Science East Pty Ltd now operates under Macquarie Geotech and is located in Dandenong. Ground Science  services the geotechnical, environmental and laboratory testing sectors. The strength of the company is a testament to the quality of service provided and the technical skills and experience of our staff.

With Victoria experiencing an explosion of major infrastructure works, our technical team is benchmarking the standards and level of service required to support our clients in delivering marque projects. Our attention to detail is what makes all our disciplines stand out from the rest.

Ground Science is widely accepted as an innovative consultancy across a variety of fields particularly in the sport and leisure market place. We have advanced the engineering around synthetic playing surfaces, hard court and conversions of turf fields to synthetic fields over poor ground conditions.
